FELLOWSHIPS

Anne Garcia Meitin was awarded a grant to attend the Orton Gillingham Associate Level Fieldwork and Seminar. (Awarded 2022-23)

Amy Muzyka, K-5 Literacy Specialist at Hastings, will attend the Columbia University Teacher’s College Reading and Writing Project Coaching Institute to learn professional development strategies to build the skill of teachers across the district to strengthen students’ reading ability. (Awarded 2017-18)

Robotics and Engineering Program

PROGRAM GRANTS

Elementary Robotics Curriculum Integration. Building on the successful LEF-funded pilot of an afterschool robotics and engineering program at Estabrook and Bridge Schools, LHS teachers and the LexRobotics team will extend the program to all Lexington elementary schools and train teachers to integrate robotics and engineering classes into the schools’ regular curriculum, as well. (Awarded 2015-16)

The Hastings Heroes (Trivia Bee Team, 2023)

SCHOOL COMMUNITY GRANTS

Hastings received a School Community Grant to research and construct a pollinator garden. The Hastings School community will learn about the importance of native plant species, the role of pollinators, and how student activism can make a difference in our world. (Awarded 2023-24)

This School Community Grant will fund year one of a three-year Restorative Justice training program in collaboration with Suffolk University’s Center for Restorative Justice. (Awarded 2022-23)

Hastings Elementary School will launch a multi-year art project that will involve the entire student body in designing and creating a mosaic piece that celebrates the current student community and will be hung in the new Hastings School. (Awarded 2017-18)
