2020/2021 COVID RESPONSE GRANT RECIPIENTS

ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS

Linda Menkis, K-5 Math Coordinator Tangy Tuesdays. Weekly math puzzles for fun and engagement for students from Bridge, Bowman, Estabrook, Harrington, and Hastings. Tangy Tuesday puzzles are fun, engaging and support student engagement in math. They are designed to provide students opportunities to 'play' with math and apply their skills in fun ways.(Awarded 2020)

Michele Carter, Fiske Teacher, RLA Math Manipulatives. Beaded numberlines for all RLA students in Ms. Carter's class. (Awarded 2020)

Amy Shew, Fiske Teacher, Traveling Writing Folders for Hybrid Students. Sturdy traveling writing workshop folders for hybrid students. (Awarded 2020)

Meg Colella, Principal of Bridge School Technology to Enhance Remote Teaching and Learning Remotely teaching educators will get monitors and headsets to be able to see all their students as well as their lessons. (Awarded 2020)

Meg Colella, Principal of Bridge School, Floor Seat Cushions. Because of the CDC guidelines, the rugs had to be removed in elementary school, so these flexible floor cushions will provide a comfortable learning space both inside and outside the classroom. (Awarded 2020)

Caitlin Ahern, Director of Professional Learning and Special Projects for Lexington Public Schools, RLA Classroom Libraries. Classroom libraries of books for RLA classrooms from Hastings, Harrington, and Bowman to be sent home for RLA students on a bi-weekly basis, so RLA students can have just right books. (Awarded 2020)

MIDDLE SCHOOL

Rebecca Edelman, Science Educator at Diamond, Virtual Mission to Europa via the Christa McAuliffe Center. These virtual missions through the Christa McAuliffe Center at Framingham State will enable Diamond students to travel to Jupiter's moon Europa and conduct an exploration of the moon's ocean. Students will focus on teamwork, problem solving, communication, and decision making, which are all skills that are vital for success in learning. Additionally, this program directly connects to all of the science practice standards covered this year. (Awarded 2020)

Josh Frost, Math Department Chairman for Clarke & Diamond, 8th Grade Math Curriculum Videos. Mr. Frost will develop 30 math curriculum videos which students can access any time for help with their asynchronous studies. (Awarded 2020)

George Shannon, PE Teacher at Clarke, Clarke Table Tennis Project. 4 Table tennis tables, 20 paddles and 1 gross of table tennis balls for a newly developed table tennis curriculum. (Awarded 2020)
